About Kate
I am an Irish woman living near the sea in South Shields, North East England. I love being part of a beautifully blended family with my husband, our adult children and grandchildren.
I was trained by the International College of Professional Celebrants and I hold a National Open College Network (NOCN) Level 3 qualification in Civil Celebrancy.
I am skilled at writing and delivering beautiful, personalised and inclusive ceremonies. You can put your trust in me as we create your ceremony together. Collaborating with people during the happiest and saddest moments in life is an honour I don’t take lightly. I offer my warmth, compassion and professional integrity. I don’t tend to market myself through third parties, as I want to connect with you and work for you directly. If you are interested in me being a celebrant for you, please contact me directly.
Before becoming a celebrant I enjoyed working in the community and voluntary sector in England, Ireland, and Namibia. I was a charity chief executive for twelve years. I have been influenced by wonderful people overcoming all sorts of challenges and exclusions. I have researched the vital work women do to tackle violence against women and girls. This research led me work as a university lecturer for five years whilst completing my doctorate.
I first became interested in celebrancy when supporting campaigns for equal marriage in Ireland and the UK, from around 2013. Ceremonies are becoming so much more inclusive and I am happy to be part of this positive change.
In my downtime I like to be out along the coastal path where I live. I am an extremely slow but very happy jogger.
